Shrimp Mozambique - Thyme with Catherine

Shrimp Mozambique

A simple and classic Portuguese recipe that can be served alone, or over pasta or rice as a full meal.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, gently toss the shrimp in flour. This will give it a little bit of texture when sautéing.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil and butter.
  3. Place the shrimp in the skillet and sauté on medium-high heat for 1 minute each side.
  4. Add the remaining butter and fresh garlic, and continue cooking for about a minute longer.
  5. Add the beer, lemon juice, and water, cooking on high-heat for about 3 more minutes.
  6. Finally, add the crushed pepper flakes, and fresh parsley.
  7. Salt and pepper to taste.

Notes

If you're serving this over pasta, add 1/2 cup of pasta-water instead of the plain water. Consider pouring the entire Mozambique over the pasta, and serve in an oversized serving bowl with some oven-toasted buttered bread for dipping.
